Gordon is currently the Chairman of Dairy Farmers of Prince Edward Island, taking over from long time chair Harold MacNevin in April of 2020. As Chairman, he represents PEI producers on CMSMC and Chairs & GM committees. Gordon also represents DFPEI on the Dairy Farmers of Canada Board.
As a proud dairy farmer, he strongly believes that we can only be successful individually if we are first successful as a group. We don't always have to agree, but we always have to work together.
Gordon began farming in partnership with his father in 1977, and in 1984 entered into a partnership with his brother, Malcolm. Currently, the farm is managed by his son, Chris, with input and labor from Gordon.
Operating as Goldenflo Holsteins, the farm is the recipient of 2 Holstein Canada Master Breeder Shields and milk 100 cows in a tie stall barn.
Gordon and his wife Merle have 2 sons, Chris on the farm and Colin a CPA living in Vancouver. They have 4 granddaughters on the farm and 2 grandsons in BC.
For enjoyment Gordon loves spending time with his family, milking at 5am and watching a nice crop grow. A faithful Toronto Maple Leaf every year from early fall until the playoffs start in April.
