This week's Behind the Barn feature is the Gorrill Family Farm! Connie, her husband Garth, daughter Elizabeth, and son Daniel—have been farming together since 1997.  The original farm has been in the Gorrill family since 1848!

Located in Birch Hill, they milk fewer than 40 cows using a pipeline milking system and provide a mix of tie stall housing and straw pack, with summer pasture for the cows to roam.

Connie’s favourite part of dairy farming? The animals! From cows, dogs and cats to summer barn swallows. Plus, she loves that no two days are ever the same.

Thinking about becoming a dairy farmer? Connie says: "A lot of families talk around the supper table, we do that during evening barn chores."
